Waterfront Grill in New Bedford

I went to Merrill's on an August Friday night, arriving about 7:30pm. There was a 30 - 40 minute wait but once seated, there were no delays. Waitress arrived immediately and was attentive and pleasant. She was helpful with recommendations. Had the wing appetizer that was very good. I had the salmon on a plank, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus. All very good, served at the correct temperature. I washed it down with a chilled glass of Chateau Ste Michelle. We were seated by the window where we could see the fishing boats.Overall a very good meal in a very nice atmosphere. Best of all, it was reasonably priced in my opinion. I would eat there again. Most important, there is adequate parking unlike The Black Whale just up the road.

Very quaint and cozy atmosphere. Loved it before and love it now. Perfect spot in downtown New Bedford.

What a great place to eat. Even though the name has changed the food is still amazing but I missed the aolie sauce that used to be on the fried calamari appetizer. The service is great and friendly and so is the atmosphere. Unlike the Black Whale you can get fried clams and a martini. It is a fantastic addition to the restaurants downtown. Check it out you will not be disappointed!

We sat on the deck facing the marina. It was a beautiful night & the food was unbelieveable awesome. The wait staff was so down to earth & very attentive to our needs. I can not wait to go back.

The place is really nice! I am from ohio and wanted some great seafood!! Well that fell short food was nasty!!! Why can't you just make some plain ole good seafood no fancy!! Not happy at all after I I spent $110 what a joke!!

Thank you Rachel and all the servers! Rachel was great to work with. We held my son's and bride-to-be's rehearsal dinner at Merrill's. We enjoyed the semi-private room (which turned out to be private). We all enjoyed the buffet with Filet & Baked Stuffed Cod, chowder, crackers and cheese, etc...the food was fabulous and the servers & bartender were awesome. Thank you again for helping us in making our special occasion a great evening!

First time was good when I dined in. Ordered take it obviously so to this pandemic, they messed up the order pretty good $50 for 2 for dinner i expected more. The manager was very nice and polite offered a free meal or gift card (I didn't except only because I called to let them know of the issue not for anything free) all in all I'll try them again and hopefully have a better outcome. Very nice staff

The food was good the service was excellent and the bartender Reba was excellent. We all had a good time and will probably do it again next year.

We had our wedding reception there, service was wonderful and very helping.

Note: review based on one visit.We went in with a larger group. All of the food was under seasoned and just kind of fell flat. Nothing was awful, but nothing was great either. We had a few appetizers. The lobster rangoons were alright as we're the bacon wrapped scallops, but the sauce for the scallops was a bit weird and heavy on the Worcestershire. My fish tacos were inoffensive, but really didn't taste of much. The service was slow, but that could have been a result of having a large party.

Food was very good, oysters are fresh right from the dock. Lovely setting near the waterfront despite the season.

Fliet Mignon was OK. But not really worth the price. Convenient to the Fairfield hotel

We had such a wonderful dinner at Merrill"s with friends. Our waitress was superb and the manager, Charlie couldn't have been nicer. Our food was outstanding and we look forward to returning.

Great food. If you go there you have to try the French onion soup!

Nice view of the wharf- Good food- very nice wait staff. We went for Valentine's dinner and there were candles and a long stem red rose on the table.

Beautiful waterfront restaurant with great atmosphere. Food was very good and the deck was perfect to enjoy a meal outside. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

First time to this restaurant on the New Bedford commercial waterfront. Had the seafood paella. It wasn't the best I've ever had and it wasn't the worst. A lot broth small portion for the $32

Only had tapas for a private event, But all were surprisingly good.

Very good. Large portions. Good music. Fast service. Waitresses checked on us frequently.. I definitely will eat there again!!

Good service, nice spot, food is not bad

We held my grandmother's 90th birthday here on a Sunday afternoon. From the beginning, Rachel (the event coordinator) was fabulous. She was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Two days before the party we realized we had more people than would fit in the room we booked, and Rachel moved us to the bigger room with no additional fee! The day of the party, Rachel and the serving staff were phenomenal. They were helpful, courteous, friendly - gave us everything we could have possibly needed. And the food was superb - everyone loved everything they had. We would recommend Merrill's to everyone for a private event!

Atmosphere was great. Went here after high reccomendations unfortunately food was slightly below expectations. My wife got bake stuffed shrimp slightly overcooked, my tuna was over done and was sparse on the sauce. My mother had scallops that were cold but flavorful. Overall drinks were great, service was fantastic food could have been better. Will return and try again for sure!

From the first moment you come to this place they give you an enjoyable feeling. Very congenial team, it is a nice place to pass time with friends and colleagues or with your date. yummy meals, talented chief cook and stuff, modest price and professional service. Warmly recommended.

Had the pleasure to eat dinner here for the first time, and it was awesome! We visit about once a summer and always go to all the spots! Jared was the greatest server in the world. Always used to have him across the street and never knew he made the switch(good steal). I won’t be going anywhere else in New Bedford for dinner anymore as Jared made the dining experience amazing. 10/10. Will be back!

The service was excellent, the food was even better and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful! I recommend the crabocado - it was my favorite! I had the cedar plank salmon and it was the best salmon I’ve had in quite some time. All in all, a great experience and one of my favorite seafood restaurants.

Although we subbed a side salad for our fries on our fish and chips meat, the fish was wonderful, lightly battered, and flaky white....yum! Salad was fresh and house dressing delicious. Creamy was good and left me wawanting more! Our server Alden was attentive and friendly. He did a great job. Nice boat dock view and outside seating available...

I attended a wedding here recently and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, the food was great, and the venue itself is well appointed and in such a unique location on New Bedford's working waterfront. The wedding size was fairly large, maybe 200, but always felt that the servers were looking out for me. We're blessed in this area to have a lot of places for seafood, but Merrill's earns the right to be an upscale restaurant. Can't wait to return.

Excellent food and drinks. One of the best clam chowders in New England, orange ginger scallops are excellent.
